Start Your Project"A bungalow need not be modest in ambition — this Ikorodu design proves that single-storey living, done right, can be as considered and generous as any multi-floor home."
This bungalow design commission in Ikorodu, Lagos, came with a clear instruction: build on one level, but don't let the form feel limited. For MAF Design Projects, that was an invitation to explore what a contemporary Nigerian bungalow could look like when the constraints of budget and site are met with genuine design intelligence rather than compromise.
The plan spreads generously across the plot, using its horizontal extent to create a flowing sequence of spaces — from a welcoming entrance veranda to an open-plan reception and dining area, through to private bedroom wings positioned at the quieter end of the site. Roof overhangs are deliberately deep, managing the Lagos sun while giving the facade a bold horizontal emphasis that reads well from the street.
Material choices anchor the design firmly in its Ikorodu context: textured render, warm-toned blockwork, and timber accents at the entrance that soften the approach and signal the care taken inside. The design was delivered in full 3D, allowing the client to make confident decisions at every stage before a single foundation was dug.
